A great deal of packaging waste is accumulated in the stores: packaging boxes for deliveries, for example, as well as metal and plastic waste. Although they are used to protect, store and package merchandise, not all of them are needed.

Integrate waste reduction initiatives into merchandise-related operations

Concrete measures are taken to reduce, substitute, lighten: disposable cardboard boxes and packaging crates are being replaced by reusable plastic ones, "ready to sell" presentation displays are being used in which the packaging is designed to be more longer lasting, heavy 20 kg wooden pallets are being replaced by pallets made of recycled cardboard weighing only 3.3 kg in some warehouses.

Eliminate unnecessary packaging for customers
Rules have been defined for optimising the use of packaging, more effectively sorting and recycling it, providing suppliers with guidance in their choice of packaging solutions, etc.
