Food transition: a new call for projects is launched on the “Je Participe” crowd-funding website.
Launched in March 2019, the jeparticipe.carrefour.com crowd-funding website aims to help farmers and entrepreneurs involved in the food transition to finance the projects that they have developed for the benefit of consumers. Since the initiative was so successful, Carrefour has launched a second call for projects, which will end on 31 January 2020.
Dozens of projects have already been supported
Oyster mushroom-based vegetarian products that have not been sold in the Hauts-de-France region, a traditional canning factory for organic baby food made using local products in the Tarn region, a facility for producing healthy, organic, 100% plant-based condiments in the Île-de-France region, a traditional cider production factory and an initiative to convert dates into unusual products, also in the Île-de-France region. These five projects – like dozens of others – applied for crowd-funding via the jeparticipe.carrefour.com website. It was launched by Carrefour and crowd-funding specialist MiiMOSA, with support from Carmila shopping centres. Its aim is to strengthen ties between producers and consumers, so they can work together on designing the food of the future. For the first call for projects, Carrefour supported several of the winning ones by awarding them grants (€3000 per project) or by investing in them (€50,000 per project), helping them to take shape.
Carrefour confirms its commitment with this second call for projects
Since the initiative was so successful, Carrefour has launched a second call for projects, which will end on 31 January 2020. Farmers and entrepreneurs are invited to apply via the website and present their ideas for encouraging people to adopt a healthier diet: fewer pesticides, more biodiversity, new farming methods that are more geared towards animal welfare… all of their ideas will be welcome. By visiting a new website and engaging in direct meetings at shopping centres, consumers will be able to support the projects which are going to change the way in which we eat, thanks to crowd-funding tools: a conditional donation or an interest-bearing loan.
Carrefour is confirming its commitment to this initiative: it will grant loans of up to €50,000 and will also support three projects with donations of €3000 each.
